Bill Swan

A background in art, history, and philosophy might not seem like the traditional road to HR, but Bill knows that creativity, inquiry, logic, and people are cornerstones of a solid business, and he believes business without people is only “ink on paper” because people are the heartbeat of the company. Success depends on balancing business objectives and needs with human desires and needs, and he knows that teams thrive when management fosters open communication and empathy with this in mind. Understanding that all skills are learned and that everyone learns differently underpins Bill’s approach to coaching and consulting — listening to understand is the best way to arrive at a solution. His approach to life, to conflict, to business, Bill says, is “How did we get here? Why is this happening? What are we doing about this?” because asking these questions will lead to the core of any situation.  His national and international business background and his passion for working with immigrants and refugees have inspired him to pursue his Master’s Degree in International Business Law so he can fully support both his clients and the humanitarian organizations for which he volunteers.

When Bill isn’t consulting or volunteering for Hope Link and LWHRA, he loves to hike and fish with his family and dog (a cat named Kat and Icing the Chicken have to stay home to guard the roost), and he and his wife often hit the road to see if they can find a better chocolate cinnamon bundt cake than his wife makes. (No luck so far).
